Vatika Supermodel 2001

Supermodel 2001 was sponsored by Vatika and hence called Vatika Supermodel 2001. The contest was held to select the Indian representative to Ford Supermodel of the World 2001. However unlike previous year where the modeling contest still had the name Ford associated with it (e.g. 1996 it was called Cinthol Ford Supermodel 1996) there was no mention of Ford in the title even though announcements during the show made it clear that the winner would participate in the International Ford Supermodel event. Naseem Shaikh an unplaced contestant at Femina Miss India 2000, the glorious year when India won 3 international title won the Vatika Supermodel 2001 title while her runner up was contestants at Femina Miss India 2000 who also placed in the Top 13 that year. It is interesting to note that Nassem Shaikh eventually didn't represent India at the Ford Supermodel of the World 2001
